FMJ Organizational Strategies helps nonprofit leaders turn priorities, challenges, and opportunities into coordinated action through thoughtful assessment, realistic planning, and solutions grounded in the realities of service delivery.
Serving organizations primarily throughout the Tri-state area, with broader engagements considered.
Every organization advances its mission within the realities of available funding, staffing, regulatory requirements, organizational capacity, and day-to-day service demands. Effective strategies must account for those realities.
FMJOS brings hands-on experience from every level of nonprofit operations—from frontline service and middle management to executive leadership. This perspective allows us to develop recommendations that make sense both in the executive office and in the environments where services are delivered.
Our work is designed to help organizations establish direction, make informed decisions, strengthen internal capacity, and translate their goals into practical action.

FMJOS is grounded in two decades of nonprofit leadership and operating experience. Founder and Managing Principal Alfredo “Freddy” Matthews Jr. has progressed from direct service to executive leadership, guiding program launches, rapid expansion, staff development, and operational improvement. That experience informs the practical, hands-on support FMJOS provides today.

1
Understand the Full Picture
We begin by listening. Depending on the engagement, this may include executive leadership, board members, managers, frontline employees, partners, and service recipients. Engaging the people closest to the work helps identify the actual need, the factors influencing it, and the conditions required for progress.
2
Develop a Practical Path
Recommendations are tailored to the organization’s mission, resources, capacity, operating environment, and objectives. Plans define the actions, responsibilities, milestones, measures, and decision points required to move forward.
3
Support Implementation & Progress
The agreed-upon plan, framework, or other work product is typically the primary deliverable. When additional support is included, FMJOS can assist with implementation, progress monitoring, problem-solving, coordination, and modifications as circumstances evolve.
